Good welding performance
SAE1045 medium carbon steel plate has a moderate carbon equivalent, a small tendency to harden the heat-affected zone during welding, and good joint toughness. A variety of welding processes can be used, and the joint strength reaches 80%-90 % of the parent material, meeting the requirements of engineering structures.
Good cutting performance
The internal structure of the SAE1045 medium carbon steel plate is uniform, and the distribution of carbon elements makes the hardness and toughness of the steel moderate. During cutting, the friction between the tool and the steel is moderate, and the tool wears slowly. At the same time, moderate hardness and toughness make it easy to break and discharge the chips, avoiding chips wrapping around the tool and reducing tool damage.
Good wear resistance
Carbon elements form a layer of carbides with a higher hardness on the surface of the steel, which can effectively resist wear. Compared with Q235 (low carbon steel), the higher carbon content of SAE1045 makes its lattice structure tighter, the bonding force between atoms is stronger, and the formation of carbides is more complete, making SAE1045 a medium carbon steel plate more wear-resistant.v
