Galvanized Steel Wire Galvanized Iron Wire

Galvanized steel wire is a widely used material for manufacturing nails, valued for its combination of strength, corrosion resistance, and cost-effectiveness.Galvanized steel wire is carbon steel wire that has undergone a galvanization process to form a protective zinc coating. This coating acts as a barrier against rust and corrosion, extending the wire's lifespan, especially in outdoor or high-moisture environments.

Electro galvanized iron wire is known for its smooth and uniform zinc coating, which not only provides good protection but also gives the wire a neat and attractive appearance. It has moderate tensile strength and flexibility, making it easy to handle and process. Common applications include binding in construction and packaging, manufacturing of wire mesh for various purposes such as fencing and screening, and use in handicrafts and daily necessities where corrosion resistance is a basic requirement.

The thickness of the zinc coating can vary according to specific needs, allowing for customization based on the environment in which the wire will be used. Generally, a thicker zinc coating offers better corrosion resistance but may also increase the cost. This type of wire strikes a balance between performance and cost, making it a popular choice in many industries.

Manufacturing Process

1. Raw Material Preparation

Base Wire: Low-carbon steel wire rod (SAE 1006-1018, 0.05–0.25% carbon).

Diameter: Typically 5.5–9 mm (pre-drawing).

Surface Cleaning:

Alkaline degreasing (60–80°C NaOH solution) to remove oils.

Mechanical descaling (shot blasting) or acid pickling (10–15% HCl/H₂SO₄, 20–30°C).

Rinsing: Neutralization in water baths (pH 7).

2. Wire Drawing

Purpose: Reduce diameter to target size (e.g., 0.15–6.0 mm).

Process:

Dry/Wet drawing through carbide/diamond dies.

Lubrication: Soap powder or calcium stearate emulsion.

Multiple passes (e.g., 8–12 stages) with intermediate annealing.

Annealing:

Batch/continuous furnace (650–750°C) to restore ductility.

Controlled atmosphere (N₂/H₂) to prevent oxidation.

3. Electro-Galvanizing Line

4. Finishing & Quality Control

5. Environmental & Safety Measures

Features

Excellent Dimensional Stability
Galvanized Wire is manufactured using precision wire drawing equipment, with a wire diameter tolerance of ±0.02 mm. They are compatible with automated molding equipment and standard molds, helping maintain stable production rhythm and process accuracy. This reduces the risk of equipment jamming and misoperation, and improves production yield.

Excellent Tensile Strength
After standard annealing, our products achieve a tensile strength of 350–550 N/mm², balancing both flexibility and load-bearing capacity.
